CPC driver 35h

Driver CPC qualification affects all professional vocational licence holders LGV / HGV (C1, C and C + E) and PCV / PSV (D1, D and D + E) drivers. All professional bus, coach and lorry drivers will have to undertake 35 hours of periodic training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC is current.

This is known as Periodic Training Driver CPC periodic training is designed to confirm and expand the existing knowledge and skills of each driver to ensure that they continue to be safe, professional and efficient drivers. This will also enable drivers to keep up-to-date with constantly changing regulations and benefit them throughout their driving career.

Periodic refresh training is delivered through courses that drivers attend over the five-year period for which their current Driver CPC qualification is valid. There is no pass or fail element to these tests. A driver has to renew their cpc every 5 years by taking 35 hours cpc training – 5 x 7hour courses. These can be done as 1 per year or 5 in a row. Each new five-year period will begin from the expiry date of the driver's current Driver CPC qualification, and not from the date on which they reached the 35 hours minimum training requirement. It is an offence to drive professionally in EU without a valid CPC. Both you and your employer could be facing a heavy fines.

The Driver CPC deadline is starting to catch up with operators, with many leaving Driver CPC hours to the last minute which could cause a mass demand for training all at once.

Don't wait! Book your course now and stay legal! You can now check records of the periodic training you’ve completed online: www.direct.gov.uk/checkdrivercpc
