bay

Bay

Bay is a convex part of the building, extending beyond the main line of elevations, supported from the bottom along its depth. Often used in order to increase the interior space of the room and provide additional light. Bays are characteristic for many architectural styles and can be found in residential, public and religious buildings. Their windows often provide a panoramic view of the surroundings.
